Bicycle touring buskers!

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Paul Compter Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hi there, I am looking for other bicycle touring musicians who think it might be fun to go around Europe and perform street music in all the cool places. I carry around an ukulele which I'm planning on hooking up through some speakers. I like playing upbeat jazz standards, but anything goes really.

At the moment I'm in the area of Marseille, but don't really have any proper plans except visiting my dear old mom at some point in Malaga. Aside from that, we'll see which way the wind blows. So yeah, if your up for the rock n roll adventure, sleeping out under the stars, visiting the cool cities and having fun playing music you should definitely send me a message!

Jutland from Aarhus

Weekend Tour Giulio Giagnoni Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hi, I'm planning to do some bike tours starting from Aarhus. My idea is to have a look around Jutland, islands and maybe Fyn.

My gear include handlebar and seat post bags, maybe backpack, with bivvy bag, sleeping bag and basic cooking. For overnight I'm looking at "shelter" app or "warmshowers". Around 50-100 km a day, but this could be variable depending on destination and necessities.

The candidate, if there will be any, should be: any sex, age and interests preferably, but not necessarily, close to mine. Similar fitness level of mine. Let's meet for some afternoon ride to know each other.

About me: My name is Giulio, male, 28 yo, from Italy, studying animal science at uni. Love riding and I'm trying to spend lots of time on it. Enjoy being out and in the nature, explore, also reading, movies, music and guitar are on my hobby list.

One time around Great Britain from May to September 2018

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Achim Janders Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hi Guys, my next big adventure will start on the 1st May, and will be 4 months cycling around Great Britain.

I like it to travel alone, but also like to get to know local people, or cycle some distance with someone - that's why I am here :-)

I want to cycle mostly along the coast, but there are also some interesting sites to visit a bit apart from the sea. One of the first detour will be Stonehenge :-)  So I will come by bus from Munich to Antwerpe and take over from Dunkirk to Dover from where I go west. I haven't sorted out yet where I will stay the nights. On the country side I will try to pitch my tent in the wild, but I think I want to explore some bigger cities like: Brighton, Southampton, Lands End, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, Lancaster, Carlisle, Glasgow, Oban, Outer Hebrides, Portree, Ulapool, John o Groats, Inverness, Fort Wiliam, Elgin, Banff, Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Edinburgh, Newcastle upon Tyne, Middlesbrough, Scarborough, Colchester, London, Canterbury and Dover again.

So this is a rough description of my trip. If you would like to join me along the way, please get in touch with me, and we will sort out when I will be at which place.  I want to have ridden 6600km (10.500 miles) at the end of August or mid September in Dover.

In the end there will be a lot more ... :-)  so, I am really happy to hear from you

cheers Achim

Across Canada 2018

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Leanne Klimek Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hey there!

My name is Leanne, and I'm planning a cycle tour across Canada departing on June 1st in Vancouver, BC (Canada) and ending somewhere around the first or second week of September in New Brunswick.

Depending on how things go, I'd love to head to PEI and cross into Nova Scotia as well. I've made a map that you can find right here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=12Q6Kvh05cKzt9BK2_IGh6feTtlTSU4Ns&usp=sharing

I'm planning on doing most of this solo at the moment, and would be overjoyed to share this adventure with cycling companions! I'm planning on camping most of the way with the odd night in a hostel here and there. I'm new to cycle touring (though not out of shape). I imagine I'll be a bit slow, especially at the start, so a companion with some patience (or okay with riding on the slow side to begin with!) would be ideal. I'm hoping to ride between 50-60 km the first few days of the tour, ramping up to around 100 for the remainder with approximately one rest day every week (and fewer kilometres if the weather is poor, having a bad day, etc.).

I'm female and 26, open to riding with a partner of any age or gender. When I'm not biking around I really enjoy tossing frisbees, reading books and laughing until my abs hurt. Let me know if this trip sounds like your jam! I'd love to chat!

Friday, 01. June 2018 until Sunday, 09. September 2018 09:00 - 19:00 (GMT +01:00)

Canada Coast to Coast

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Aran Sugar Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

I am looking to bike and camp across Canada and am looking for some cycle buddies.

I’m not wanting to go all out pedaling, as I’m new to all this. Moderate mileage per day as the weather and terrain vary so much.  I’m thinking of about 3 months as it’s such a long way.

I’m from England, so I can get a 6 month visa which means I’m in no hurry.  I am a 43 year old male and a decent guy. I like to laugh, joke and enjoy myself. I’m not really into this PC culture where everyone is too scared to be themselves, so if you have views and a personality, great!

No hurry, but I’m wanting to start about 1st June.  Male and female welcome and all ages and experience too.

Look forward to chatting with you.

From July 2018 France Spain

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Mati Martinez Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited
Hi cyclists! I am a 29-year-old explorer who loves to know what is out there in the world, discover the cultures, the landscapes and the locals on the way! I found out that doing it by bike is the best way. After doing around 5000km of touring by myself I realized that I would love to ride with someone else! Currently, I am in the west of France but I have no destination for my travel!. I would love to travel pretty much everywhere in France or/and Spain/Portugal. I am very flexible on that! When I'm alone, I'm used to spend the whole day riding, between 80 and 140 kms a day, mostly because if I am not riding I got bored, so I just keep riding... But it would be completely different if I am with someone!. I don't like to set any goals to reach, I think doing touring is about freedom, freedom to ride wherever you feel like, to jump out of the road and take a hiking path, to change your way if you feel there is something interesting on the other direction, to enjoy the day no matter where you go. Obviously, I have this mentality because I have plenty of time! I don't have to return to work! I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and some French! If anybody could imagine to join me, would be really nice to hear from you!

South America 2018-2020

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Andy Purkis Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

I left home in the UK 2 years ago and cycled through Europe and Africa, sailed across the Atlantic ocean and am now discovering South America. I'm currently in Manaus, in Northern Brazil with no definite end in sight. I will spend about another year in South America, maybe more, riding mountain and dirt roads mostly. I am heading south west-ish to Cusco in Peru from here, visiting Macchu Pichu and then south through the Andes. I have chosen some routes from bikepacking.com and andesbybike.com although these can be modified along the way depending on the road and weather.

I prefer to camp and cook my food but also use roadside eateries and sometimes hotels etc. I have a fairly lightweight setup, but due to the length of the trip I also like to carry a few extras for entertainment.

I enjoy riding with others but also happy on my own. I am young for my age, enjoy reading, music and being outdoors. I have a true British sense of humour and a belief in human nature.

Do you want to ride in South America? Drop me a line. Company is always welcome.

2. Second route on my mind is to do Way of St. James in Spain and then travel to Lisboa.  Route2 on komoot: https://goo.gl/cQkgEs

Both are over ~1300-1500 km I plan to make ~100km a day. Timescale for this journey would be in august but I am flexible for other timescales.

British Columbia: Toure De Canada

Endurance Adventure Jesse Holt Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited
I'm planning on biking through British Columbia in a few weeks. My current plan is to leave from Vancouver in the first few weeks of August. My current start date isn't set in stone yet I'm hoping to figure that out in the next few days once I get a project wrapped up. Here is a map of my route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28021171: I will be cycling along the off road BC Trail from Vancouver to Fernie, from there I will head north taking the Great Divide to Banff. After Banff I will be sticking mostly to the roads as I bike through the national parks up to Jasper before turning around and heading back to Vancouver through Squamish/Whittier. I am hoping to go for a hike or two when I get to the parks. My plan is to for the most part camp along the route, with the occasional Warmshowers/Hotel stay to clean up or get out of the weather. I am hoping to try to tackle 75-100+ miles/day while on the trails. I am looking for similarly aged group or partner to join me on this grand bike tour across British Columbia. So If you want to join with to bike along for all or any part of the route you'd be more then welcome to. This will be my first solo tour so I'm excited, it wont be an easy route there is lots of climbing but it should be beautiful. I enjoy having a good time and enjoy spending time with people who don't take life so seriously and love to laugh, live and explore let me know if you would be interested in joining

Great Divide Mountain Bike Route

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Nathan Van Patten Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: 2

Looking for two people to join me on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route.

I have never done a long distance bike tour, but I have done other activities such as back country camping for several weeks at a time, so I am familiar with a lot of the skills necessary to have a successful trip.

Looking for partners who are down to earth, organized, a good tolerance for adversity and uncertainty, can laugh at most things, good hearted, and are physically fit to handle the rigors of this trip (obviously).

I've been researching this route for a few years now, but am still early in the process of planning it. Start and end dates are flexible. Will have more concrete plans once I get the updated route maps.

How I see the tour going. Riding anywhere from 60 to 100 miles a day with a few rest days thrown in there at some locations that would warrant some extra time visiting. I want to camp the majority of the time, but also plan on staying a portion of the nights at a motel, hostel, or some other lodging.

Food will be simple - Clifbars, rice & beans, but will definitely hit up a diner or restaurant a few times a week. I will either be riding a fat bike or a mountain bike with front suspension - not going for a land speed record; slow and steady is the name of the game.

I am planning on taking the Amtrak from Fargo, ND to Whitefish, MT and then finding a lift to Banff. Not sure how this will work yet. I may just start in Whitefish, but would prefer to do the whole route.

Hello! I am planning to set a world record by rollerblading across America in 6 weeks. I plan on traveling 60 miles a day; starting in San Diego, CA and finishing in Crescent Beach, FL. Adding extra weight is much more detrimental on inline skates than it is on a bike, so I am looking for a person or group of people to accompany me on this adventure to experience it with me and also to help me carry supplies. This is a dream of mine, but it can only happen with your help! The total distance is ~2,500 miles.

Cycle touring across all continents

Endurance Adventure Lokodi Zsolt Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

For a number of years now I have contemplated the idea of cycling around the world. I kept putting it off for this or that reason; not enough money, too much planning, logistical hindrances, a delay in future career choices, and so on. Then I realised that there’s another way. One, that is called social cycling. The core concept is the same, cycling across all continents of the world, but with some modifications. I would try to achieve this goal by relying on the support of hundreds or even thousands of people. Because there’s power in unity. And involving as many people in this endeavour and presenting it as a common achievement comes almost as an equal reward for everyone. Wherever you cycle, especially in the developed areas of the world, there are cycle clubs and fellow cycling enthusiasts. Many people would be willing to cycle a leg or two of a great journey. A series of micro adventures would constitute one truly grand adventure (I’m quoting Alastair Humphreys here somewhat).

Working on the details of such a trip seems extremely overwhelming. But then again, there are always people who are willing to help with something, fundraising, sponsorship, organising logistical details, networking, updating social media platforms, outreach ,media, filming, photography, creative writing, etcetera. People from various corporate backgrounds would want to do a leg or two to promote their companies. As far as I’m aware and correct me if I’m wrong, something like this hasn’t been attempted before. So some adventurous and committed people could step forward and go all the way; this would constitute the core group of cycle tourers. Those willing to cycle for the various legs of the journey can fundraise for various causes and organisations, or just do it for fun. Those who don’t feel like cycling but still want to get involved could offer their professional support. Besides the primary goal that is a grand around the world cycle journey, there’s also a secondary objective. That is visiting undeveloped and impoverished areas of the world and raising funds to support and encourage schoolchildren to cycle. This would require donations, and what better donation is there than a brand new or even a second hand bicycle! And what better reward there is then to see a group of smiling children cycling together. (Cycling and social inclusion) I consider this cycle journey as a catalyst for a larger movement promoting health, travel and the involvement of local cultures. So everyone out there who’s a keen cyclist, please help me with your ideas, advice, thought processes. Challenge my idea from left and right. But remember, that the emphasis is not on the problem, it’s on the solution. Suggestions for names for this project are very welcome. An online platform is necessary, and so is a rock solid website (these will follow soon after most ideas are thoroughly hammered out). I have also considered a trial run, where a group of like minded individuals would popularise the concept by say cycling from London to Paris on a weekend.

Swede cycling Amsterdam - Bilbao v35-39

Touring Holiday Stefan Bergman Free event Booking will be on Waiting List
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: 0

I'm a 28 years old Swede who will cycle and camp Amsterdam - Bilbao via Utrecht, Ghent, Brugges, the coastal routes of France (Velodyssey och Tour de Manche) and San Sebastian v35-39. A rough estimate of the distance would be at least 3100km.

I normally pace 80-120km / day and that will be my goal on this trip as well. This pace would leave some days to rest, to stay in some cities and unplanned stuff. My preferences for the trip are 70% / 30% experience and scenery vs cycling i.e I'm cycling for the experience not for the cycling in itself.

I love taking short detours just for the sake of the view and taking time to explore villages but at the same time I've no problem hammering in between the stops and the POI just to be able to spend more time enjoying the good stuff. It would be really fun having someone joining me for the whole or parts of the trip!

I'm easy going and have some sense of humor. I think as long as we share the same expectations for the trip we'll have a good time! I would prefer cycling with boy or girl in my age +/- 10 years. I'm cycling a cyclo cross with road tires and cleats. It would be preferable cycling with someone having a somewhat similar setup so that our pace matches (unless you're really strong cyclist).

If you're interested don't hesitate to send me a message and we'll see if our goals and expectations of such trip coincide.

Looking forward planning the trip with you!

For those short of time for a long cycle tour, would you be interested in joining 2 cycling buddies, Jon and Megan, to cycle the 185 mile Hebridean Way that runs the length of the Outer Hebrides. Take a look at Mark Beaumont's cycle of it if wondering what its like. https://www.calmac.co.uk/article/4556/Hebridean-Way-Cycle-Challenge.

Plan to take 4 days going from southern tip to northern and camping along the way. The route isn't especially hilly but can be quite windy. But the stunning scenery and wildlife and the remote way of life should make for a great experience.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the group. By the end of the summer I would leave Italy heading to South East Asia. I'd like to know your opinion on what's the best route to ride. Whether to the north, through Eastern Europe, or south, across Turkey, where perhaps the climate is milder.

Comments about visas issues, geo-political conditions and countries to avoid are also welcome.

Anyone interested in joining a leg of the journey, please contact me to sort out arrangements. I have no time limits and complete freedom.

Paris to Interlaken

Touring Holiday Arthur Silverman Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: 4
Paris to Interlaken via Dijon and Bern. About 11 days. About 100km (63 miles) per day. I'm flexible on the itinerary. My thoughts are first to Fountainebleau then across Burgundy to Dijon via Sens, Auxerre, and Vezelay. Then Bescanson, Le Chaux-de-Fonds, Bern and Interlaken. This is Part 1 of three parts. I expect to take the train from Andrematt to Locarno. I'll post Part 2, Locarno to Zagreb, separately. I generally expect ot stay in hostels, AirBnB, and cheaper hotels. I like to eat in good, but not-too-expensive restaurants. I'm not a huge tourist, but all the towns mentioned above have at least a site or two worth looking at.

Bike across America companion(s) wanted!

Endurance Adventure Mingchen Mao Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited

I am a student at UCSD, the coming fall quarter(semester) will be my last quarter and I do not have any classes, so I plan to do something crazy like bike across America! Date: End of Sep to End of Nov Route: West coast to East coast Accommodation (ranking from most preferred to least): Host family to Church(public center?) to Camping to Hotel

About myself: The longest bike trip I have completed was in the winter of 2014 (12.20.2014 - 1.1.2015), I biked from Durham, NH to Philly, PA with several days off as breaks. Since I don't have an odometer on my bike, I cannot quantify how many miles I have biked in the past, but I do biked a lot.

Notes: I understand this is a big plan and the date is not ideal (perhaps 95% bikers in the student group will not be able to make it). So if you do not plan to join me but can offer any sort of help or give any suggestions, I will highly appreciate!

Across Canada Tour

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Paul Sliffe Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hello! I am leaving on a cycle adventure for 2 and a half months. Starting in Vancouver Canada, I'm going to either Niagara Falls or the East Coast.

The idea is to go about 60-80 miles a day, and cover the terrain in 2-3 months. Winter will be around the corner, so some winter gear will be needed.

I camp along the entire way and carry everything on my bike. Rough estimate including flights should be about $2200, but is subject to the person's preferences.

I have done an all camping tour before across the states and it is an adventure of a life time!

Don't worry, we will meet a lot of people along the way and be able to shower and sleep inside.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

This tour is Part 2 of 3. This is a pretty standard bike tour. I don't know this territory too well, but I usually book a room a day or, at most two days, ahead. I like to eat pretty well. Not too picky about sleeping. I expect to cover about 100 km (63 miles) a day. I'm open on the exact route. I'd also like to see Verona and Trieste.

Lightweight Dec18-Jan19 in the sun

Touring Holiday Daniel Kazaniecki Free event
Booked: 1 | Free Seats: Unlimited

Hey guys, my name is Daniel, 36 year old. I love meeting and riding with like minded madmen around the globe!

How: Light! Just 5-6kg added onto a racing bike, because climbing is what I enjoy the most. (Meaning: because I'm a sissy cycling through developed countries only.)

When: 2-5 weeks roughly a year from today: between Dec 8, 2018 - Jan 17, 2019.

Where: That's the funny part. I'm simply sitting here freezing my ass off and promising myself that's my last winter in Europe. I could see myself getting easily talked into something as typical as the Pacific Coast Highway (LA-SF), or something as crazy as Auckland-Queenstown, flyover, continue Sydney-Kosciuszko-Melbourne. Or someplace completely different.

Would you like to join? Just click Join this Cycle Tour and we can sort out the details.

I speak Spanish/German/Polish/Dutch

PS - I have completed similar tours: 2015 NL-CR, 2017 HU-NL

Alexandria (Egypt) - Adis abeba (Ethiopia) Following the nile +-80km a day

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Ewaut Van Wassenhove Free event
Booked: 0 | Free Seats: Unlimited

I have experience in long adventurous journeys and would love to do another one in Africa following the Nile to the land of punt.

Time frame is flexible. I am aiming for spring 2019 and have to see with my doctors appointments for cancer follow-ups.

I always aim for about 10 Euros a day even when this is alot in poorer countries. Just more money to spend on local food and an occasional hotel.

Looking for someone with levels of chill that required in Africa. Really don't care about gender or age or even if you are out of shape. After one week or 1.5 weeks you'll be in shape!

I like camping allot so bring a tent off course!  Even open for novice or new riders or people who have never been in Africa before. You just need chill because things will go weird in Africa.

Really just want to share the beauty in this world and not be alone in my experience.
