It is a big birthday year for myself and to celebrate I'm treating myself to 10 days away cycle touring. I'm going to catch a ferry from UK to Roscoff, France and tour all the way down to Santander in Northern Spain, where I'll catch the ferry back to Plymouth UK.
I have no plans accept that I would like to cycle over the Ile de Re (small island next to La Rochelle) and make the most of cycling in the Pyrenees for the first time. I may look to follow some of the Eurovelo 1 route. But generally, I will take each day as it comes and cycle in the rough direction on the South West of France, before heading over the border into Spain.
It is quite a few miles to cover in 10 days, so will see how it goes. Not against jumping on a local train to catch up if I decide to spend a afternoon or day somewhere. My only deadline is a return ferry home, which is all booked up.
Would be great to have some company as I tour through the quiet roads of France and hopefully enjoy glorious sunshine. No problem to join for all or part of the way. I'm flexible and can meet people along the way.
I'll be camping all the way. There are plenty of good campsites in France, which you can normally just turn up and grab a pitch, especially at this time of year before the school holidays start. If no campsite, I'll wild camp. Or if really awful weather, not against grabbing a cheap hotel or B & B.
In the evenings I like to chill out after setting up camp and have some nice food, couple of beers and if the weather good, maybe a BBQ. Eating and cycling are a couple of my favorite things to do!
Please register interest if you would like to join me on my cycling adventure.
