This is a small town just north east of london but has some lovely little villages just round the corner. Good network of cycle paths and toepaths along the canal. Which you can either get to london or pick up the grand union canal which leads to the mid lands and the north of england.
The canal has lots of lovely pubs were you can stop off and have a drink and a bite to eat. Moat off the toepaths are either tarmac concrete or gravel.
Always happy to give a local tour of the villages and even a little ride down the toepaths to london which I've done on many occasions. Or just as happy to share strava routes for you too take.
There are two very local excellent bike shops in this town which are
Lea valley cycles (cm20 3ap) and stort valley cycles (cm202qt) as well as halfords and other good local shops to get your supplies
Ware and hertford are just 8 to 10 miles from me which also have good bike shops and supply shops as well
If your just passing through town and need a campsite there is one called lea valley camp site or I can show you few very quiet secluded fields if you prefer wild camping.
