Bicycle touring buskers!

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Paul Compter Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

Hi there, I am looking for other bicycle touring musicians who think it might be fun to go around Europe and perform street music in all the cool places. I carry around an ukulele which I'm planning on hooking up through some speakers. I like playing upbeat jazz standards, but anything goes really.

At the moment I'm in the area of Marseille, but don't really have any proper plans except visiting my dear old mom at some point in Malaga. Aside from that, we'll see which way the wind blows. So yeah, if your up for the rock n roll adventure, sleeping out under the stars, visiting the cool cities and having fun playing music you should definitely send me a message!

Jutland from Aarhus

Weekend Tour Giulio Giagnoni Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

Hi, I'm planning to do some bike tours starting from Aarhus. My idea is to have a look around Jutland, islands and maybe Fyn.

My gear include handlebar and seat post bags, maybe backpack, with bivvy bag, sleeping bag and basic cooking. For overnight I'm looking at "shelter" app or "warmshowers". Around 50-100 km a day, but this could be variable depending on destination and necessities.

The candidate, if there will be any, should be: any sex, age and interests preferably, but not necessarily, close to mine. Similar fitness level of mine. Let's meet for some afternoon ride to know each other.

About me: My name is Giulio, male, 28 yo, from Italy, studying animal science at uni. Love riding and I'm trying to spend lots of time on it. Enjoy being out and in the nature, explore, also reading, movies, music and guitar are on my hobby list.

From July 2018 France Spain

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Mati Martinez Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited
Hi cyclists! I am a 29-year-old explorer who loves to know what is out there in the world, discover the cultures, the landscapes and the locals on the way! I found out that doing it by bike is the best way. After doing around 5000km of touring by myself I realized that I would love to ride with someone else! Currently, I am in the west of France but I have no destination for my travel!. I would love to travel pretty much everywhere in France or/and Spain/Portugal. I am very flexible on that! When I'm alone, I'm used to spend the whole day riding, between 80 and 140 kms a day, mostly because if I am not riding I got bored, so I just keep riding... But it would be completely different if I am with someone!. I don't like to set any goals to reach, I think doing touring is about freedom, freedom to ride wherever you feel like, to jump out of the road and take a hiking path, to change your way if you feel there is something interesting on the other direction, to enjoy the day no matter where you go. Obviously, I have this mentality because I have plenty of time! I don't have to return to work! I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and some French! If anybody could imagine to join me, would be really nice to hear from you!

South America 2018-2020

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Andy Purkis Free event
Booked: 1 | Available Places: Unlimited

I left home in the UK 2 years ago and cycled through Europe and Africa, sailed across the Atlantic ocean and am now discovering South America. I'm currently in Manaus, in Northern Brazil with no definite end in sight. I will spend about another year in South America, maybe more, riding mountain and dirt roads mostly. I am heading south west-ish to Cusco in Peru from here, visiting Macchu Pichu and then south through the Andes. I have chosen some routes from bikepacking.com and andesbybike.com although these can be modified along the way depending on the road and weather.

I prefer to camp and cook my food but also use roadside eateries and sometimes hotels etc. I have a fairly lightweight setup, but due to the length of the trip I also like to carry a few extras for entertainment.

I enjoy riding with others but also happy on my own. I am young for my age, enjoy reading, music and being outdoors. I have a true British sense of humour and a belief in human nature.

Do you want to ride in South America? Drop me a line. Company is always welcome.

Great Divide Mountain Bike Route

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Nathan Van Patten Free event
Booked: 1 | Available Places: 1

Looking for two people to join me on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route.

I have never done a long distance bike tour, but I have done other activities such as back country camping for several weeks at a time, so I am familiar with a lot of the skills necessary to have a successful trip.

Looking for partners who are down to earth, organized, a good tolerance for adversity and uncertainty, can laugh at most things, good hearted, and are physically fit to handle the rigors of this trip (obviously).

I've been researching this route for a few years now, but am still early in the process of planning it. Start and end dates are flexible. Will have more concrete plans once I get the updated route maps.

How I see the tour going. Riding anywhere from 60 to 100 miles a day with a few rest days thrown in there at some locations that would warrant some extra time visiting. I want to camp the majority of the time, but also plan on staying a portion of the nights at a motel, hostel, or some other lodging.

Food will be simple - Clifbars, rice & beans, but will definitely hit up a diner or restaurant a few times a week. I will either be riding a fat bike or a mountain bike with front suspension - not going for a land speed record; slow and steady is the name of the game.

I am planning on taking the Amtrak from Fargo, ND to Whitefish, MT and then finding a lift to Banff. Not sure how this will work yet. I may just start in Whitefish, but would prefer to do the whole route.

Cycle touring across all continents

Endurance Adventure Lokodi Zsolt Free event
Booked: 1 | Available Places: Unlimited

For a number of years now I have contemplated the idea of cycling around the world. I kept putting it off for this or that reason; not enough money, too much planning, logistical hindrances, a delay in future career choices, and so on. Then I realised that there’s another way. One, that is called social cycling. The core concept is the same, cycling across all continents of the world, but with some modifications. I would try to achieve this goal by relying on the support of hundreds or even thousands of people. Because there’s power in unity. And involving as many people in this endeavour and presenting it as a common achievement comes almost as an equal reward for everyone. Wherever you cycle, especially in the developed areas of the world, there are cycle clubs and fellow cycling enthusiasts. Many people would be willing to cycle a leg or two of a great journey. A series of micro adventures would constitute one truly grand adventure (I’m quoting Alastair Humphreys here somewhat).

Working on the details of such a trip seems extremely overwhelming. But then again, there are always people who are willing to help with something, fundraising, sponsorship, organising logistical details, networking, updating social media platforms, outreach ,media, filming, photography, creative writing, etcetera. People from various corporate backgrounds would want to do a leg or two to promote their companies. As far as I’m aware and correct me if I’m wrong, something like this hasn’t been attempted before. So some adventurous and committed people could step forward and go all the way; this would constitute the core group of cycle tourers. Those willing to cycle for the various legs of the journey can fundraise for various causes and organisations, or just do it for fun. Those who don’t feel like cycling but still want to get involved could offer their professional support. Besides the primary goal that is a grand around the world cycle journey, there’s also a secondary objective. That is visiting undeveloped and impoverished areas of the world and raising funds to support and encourage schoolchildren to cycle. This would require donations, and what better donation is there than a brand new or even a second hand bicycle! And what better reward there is then to see a group of smiling children cycling together. (Cycling and social inclusion) I consider this cycle journey as a catalyst for a larger movement promoting health, travel and the involvement of local cultures. So everyone out there who’s a keen cyclist, please help me with your ideas, advice, thought processes. Challenge my idea from left and right. But remember, that the emphasis is not on the problem, it’s on the solution. Suggestions for names for this project are very welcome. An online platform is necessary, and so is a rock solid website (these will follow soon after most ideas are thoroughly hammered out). I have also considered a trial run, where a group of like minded individuals would popularise the concept by say cycling from London to Paris on a weekend.

Bike across America companion(s) wanted!

Endurance Adventure Mingchen Mao Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

I am a student at UCSD, the coming fall quarter(semester) will be my last quarter and I do not have any classes, so I plan to do something crazy like bike across America! Date: End of Sep to End of Nov Route: West coast to East coast Accommodation (ranking from most preferred to least): Host family to Church(public center?) to Camping to Hotel

About myself: The longest bike trip I have completed was in the winter of 2014 (12.20.2014 - 1.1.2015), I biked from Durham, NH to Philly, PA with several days off as breaks. Since I don't have an odometer on my bike, I cannot quantify how many miles I have biked in the past, but I do biked a lot.

Notes: I understand this is a big plan and the date is not ideal (perhaps 95% bikers in the student group will not be able to make it). So if you do not plan to join me but can offer any sort of help or give any suggestions, I will highly appreciate!

Across Canada Tour

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Paul Sliffe Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

Hello! I am leaving on a cycle adventure for 2 and a half months. Starting in Vancouver Canada, I'm going to either Niagara Falls or the East Coast.

The idea is to go about 60-80 miles a day, and cover the terrain in 2-3 months. Winter will be around the corner, so some winter gear will be needed.

I camp along the entire way and carry everything on my bike. Rough estimate including flights should be about $2200, but is subject to the person's preferences.

I have done an all camping tour before across the states and it is an adventure of a life time!

Don't worry, we will meet a lot of people along the way and be able to shower and sleep inside.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Chile - Careterra austral southern half

Touring Holiday Sandi Trillo Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: 6

Hoping to ride southern half of the Careterra austral in Chile in December. Thinking of maybe ferrying from Puerto Montt (northern point of CA) to Aysen and then riding south from there .

Based on research this might require about 3 weeks on bike given some is unpaved roads/ripio meaning slow-ish cycling. I think this is about 600km.

My original trip partner recently got a job and can no longer go (unless the job doesn't last) and I think it would be more fun with others!

Will involve a combo of camping and roofed accommodation hostels, guest houses, due to distances between towns. Hoping to do some trekking after the ride from el chalten/ Fitzroy and then maybe some more in Torres del Paine.

I have 5 weeks off in total and would like to be riding by relatively early in December.

Sunday, 02. December 2018 until Friday, 04. January 2019 09:00 - 19:00 (GMT +00:00)

Lightweight Dec18-Jan19 in the sun

Touring Holiday Daniel Kazaniecki Free event
Booked: 1 | Available Places: Unlimited

Hey guys, my name is Daniel, 36 year old. I love meeting and riding with like minded madmen around the globe!

How: Light! Just 5-6kg added onto a racing bike, because climbing is what I enjoy the most. (Meaning: because I'm a sissy cycling through developed countries only.)

When: 2-5 weeks roughly a year from today: between Dec 8, 2018 - Jan 17, 2019.

Where: That's the funny part. I'm simply sitting here freezing my ass off and promising myself that's my last winter in Europe. I could see myself getting easily talked into something as typical as the Pacific Coast Highway (LA-SF), or something as crazy as Auckland-Queenstown, flyover, continue Sydney-Kosciuszko-Melbourne. Or someplace completely different.

Would you like to join? Just click Join this Cycle Tour and we can sort out the details.

I speak Spanish/German/Polish/Dutch

PS - I have completed similar tours: 2015 NL-CR, 2017 HU-NL

Alexandria (Egypt) - Adis abeba (Ethiopia) Following the nile +-80km a day

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey Ewaut Van Wassenhove Free event
Booked: 1 | Available Places: Unlimited

I have experience in long adventurous journeys and would love to do another one in Africa following the Nile to the land of punt.

Time frame is flexible. I am aiming for spring 2019 and have to see with my doctors appointments for cancer follow-ups.

I always aim for about 10 Euros a day even when this is alot in poorer countries. Just more money to spend on local food and an occasional hotel.

Looking for someone with levels of chill that required in Africa. Really don't care about gender or age or even if you are out of shape. After one week or 1.5 weeks you'll be in shape!

I like camping allot so bring a tent off course!  Even open for novice or new riders or people who have never been in Africa before. You just need chill because things will go weird in Africa.

Really just want to share the beauty in this world and not be alone in my experience.

Friday, 01. March 2019 until Saturday, 01. June 2019 09:00 - 19:00 (GMT +00:00)

Summer with tall blond people

Epic Multiple Month/Year Journey eric snow Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

Tourists like myself to the EU area have 90 days inside; I plan to start in Brussels in May. The tour will visit Northern Germany, Netherlands and Denmark on the way to the Sweden, then onto the Norway coast. Then we head north along the coast, hopefully to swim in the Arctic ocean on the summer solstice!  Then head east (before 90 days) to the border with Russia and south to St. Petersberg.

This will be a happy fun ride, with no rushing as a default mode of travel. Days off when ever fun things offer.

Mostly camping with bits of Warmshowers, Couch Surfing, hostels, or what ever else seems like a good idea.

Companions should be able to support themselves, have similar distance for daily mileage in mind.

All religions, orientations, and other defining human characteristics are welcome.

People who subscribe to forms of organized shunning of humans are not welcome on this adventure; please make other arrangements!

Paris - Marseille with some detours

Bike Packing / Off Road Touring Adam Mouldi Free event
Booked: 0 | Available Places: Unlimited

Hey cyclists and bike tourers!

I am a 20-year old NYC-based student/explorer looking to discover spots away from my bedroom and my kitchen.

I'm planning to do a 2100km (1360 Miles) journey from Paris to Marseille, passing by Switzerland, Austria, and Italy. I've traveled quite a lot in the past, but I recently discovered that Biking is the way to go, at least for myself. I'm not an cycling expert per se, and this is going to be my first "big" trip (hopefully not the last one neither...), but I'm extremely motivated to do this!

I've already prepared a route that I'll link under this post for those who are curious among you; it's still under preparation and I often edit parts of it, but on the overall look, that's what I'm searching for in terms of distance and countries to visit throughout the trip.

Unfortunately, and because of my studying schedule, my dates are not very flexible, but I'll do my best to meet you somewhere on the road if you want to be part of some of my journey, or you can just join me for the whole thing, from A to Z, your call.

If you wanna have fun, eat crappy food, see amazing landscapes, and sleep under a tent for most of your days with me, contact me to sort out arrangements.

NB: I speak Arabic, French, English, and Spanish if you're ever worrying about the language barrier.
