DESCRIPTION: This tour is part of a cycle trip project from France to South Africa, and is the equatorial section beginning early January in Dakar till (ideally) end February in Abidjan.
Timing will be ideal, right before the hot season in Dakar and the rain season in Abidjan. The route is not drawn in advance, however I have few contacts in Sénégal, Guinée and Côte-d'Ivoire, and will buy maps so that we could prepare a bit to the road beforehand.
My plan is to avoid as much as possible big cities and small and bumpy roads (my bike is not equipped for hardcore off-road!). Hosting will be by in villages, be it under tent, or if we manage to find local accommodation. Hostels, Couchsufing and camping are not excluded if available.
The way to Abidjan should unroll on a day-to-day basis, depending on interests and local advice. People with knowledge and/or interest in Sub-Saharan Africa - are obviously welcome!
