If you are living in the Northern hemisphere right now, then the nights are closing in, the mornings are dark and your bed is making you want to hide under the covers. Well, it is for me anyway! If you read my last blog post, then you will know it doesn't always stop me riding, but it can be a struggle to get motivated sometimes.
For me, it is the time of year when I start to think about, what next for my cycling? Did I go where I wanted to during the warmer months? Should have gone for a ride instead of popping to the pub beer garden!? We cannot beat ourselves up about missed opportunities, but we can have ideas for the future and start to make plans. We all need something to look forward to :-)
The one thing I'm a little frustrated about this year is not completing a trip I have been thinking about for some time. It is 225 mile ish journey from St Malo to Paris. For many reasons this trip simply didn't happen. My frustration is to not want to sit here dreaming of doing this challenge when the weather turns warmer in the spring. That would be too easy. I have decided to just go for it. So, when it is cold, wet, windy and anything else the elements can throw at me, I will be out there crunching the miles! It will also be dark. But I don't care. I'm going to do the trip I always planned. My ferry is booked, return train and hotel rooms reserved. It is all go and I'm looking forward to it :-)
Going to next year (it will soon be here), I'm going to start thing think about when & where to go. So many ideas! That is the beauty of cycle touring. The options are endless and that is what makes our sport, hobby, interest, or what ever you like to call it so much fun :-) What this space for all my cycle tours, they will all be available for people to join me.
